I have a 2 week old Galaxy Indulge and I noticed on the Samsung site that they have a USB driver download dated July 28, 2010.  Is this an upgrade that might help improve phone performance, or is it likely what I already have on my phone?

That driver is to be installed on your PC. I believe it is needed to allow the Galaxy Indulge to share files with the PC thru the USB cable.

Thanks for the reply, but I can share files already by going into my phone's USB Settings and selecting Mass Storage, and I can do this transfer even though I have downloaded nothing new to my phone or to my PC.  There is also an option on the phone under USB Settings for Samsung Kies which facilitates transfers and does require a software download to your computer, but there is no copy of this software officially available yet in the U.S.  So I am still not sure what this is...

If you want to tether your phone to a laptop (I use easytether) you will need those drivers on your laptop. I do it and it works great.

I forgot to also say that I have them on my desktop and I don't have to enable mass storage device in order to transfer files. The pc picks it up as a hard drive when I connect with usb.

Mark-
If I download these drivers, do they automatically go to the correct directory, or do I have to choose?

When you download the driver it will ask you if you want to install or save. Pick save and save it to a folder you can remember. After you save it go to that folder and click on it to install. It will unzip/install into a folder in c:/program files/samsung. It is important you know this as after you install it the first time you hook up your phone the computer will say new device found (or something like that). Then it will try to install the driver for it. My computer couldnt automatically find it. I had to browse to show the computer where the driver was. It installed the driver and then found another device but this time it knew where to look. It then did it again. Apparently there are three drivers needed to install. But after it installed all three everytime after that when i hook up the phone it connected to it right away. Hope this helps.

Has anyone had success with Downloading files to the unused portion of the internal(users memory) I guess it's SD as well? I dont know if I need these drivers but I managed to set my Galaxy Indulge as mass storage then mount, connected to comp with usb cable scrolled down the  usb from notification task bar and my  computer recognized the drive as (K) with 13 gb.I dragged some pics to be used as wallpapers, unmounted and disconnected but when I tried to find using gallery under wallpapers it didn't recognize the drive or any content.
I tried using an external SD 4gb and was able to do it.Interstingly both drives came up this stime and I heard that you need an external to be recognized before you can add to the internal?
Also I hear that Kies does not support Win7 64 bit yet? Has anyone used a more upgraded version and managed to use it as the one I installed was 1.51.10074_2

Can someone post a link to the drivers. Thanks very much

I can not connect to KIES. I really want to, as I need to back up my contacts. I am getting a new Galaxy Indulge, as thing one continuously turns itself off on me.

I have had success using the phone as a mass storage device tho. I dont know how other people are having trouble with that...
